Volunteers with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program will be offering free tax preparation assistance at various sites on Maui beginning February 1, 2024. All volunteers are certified in the Tax-Aide program. You do not need to be a member of AARP to participate. Free tax preparation for low to moderate income people will be offered at the following sites by appointment only:

• Kaunoa Senior Center, Spreckelsville: Wednesdays from February 7, 2024 – April 10, 2024 (except March 20, 2024).

• Kahului Jodo Mission, corner of Laau and Molokai Hema Streets, Kahului: Saturdays from February 3, 2024 – April 13, 2024 (except February 24, 2024).

• Kenolio Recreational Complex Main Hall, 131 S. Kihei Road: Mondays, February 5 – April 8, 2024.

Appointments may be made by calling Kaunoa Senior Services at 808-270-7308, ext. 3 beginning January 16, 2024. Tax-Aide volunteers do not have IRS or State of Hawai’i training regarding casualty losses, so we cannot assist taxpayers with returns claiming or carrying forward these losses.

All taxpayers need to bring:

1) Government-issued Photo ID and Social Security cards (or SAA-1099 for individuals receiving Social Security benefits) for all taxpayers, and Social Security Cards for all dependents. If married filing jointly, both spouses must be present at the appointment.

2) 2021 and 2022 Federal and State tax returns if available.

3) Current tax documents, including but not limited to W-2s and 1099s (Interest, Dividends, Pensions, IRA Distributions, Social Security, Non-Employee Compensation, Miscellaneous). Note: We are not able to do returns with rental income.

4) If applying for the Hawaii Rental Credit, you must have the owner’s name, address and GET number.

5) If requesting direct deposit for any refund, you must bring a cancelled check (not a deposit slip).
